Constructed during the Civil War, the church has been a community symbol for hundreds of thousands of church members and visitors of this historic river town. Parking and population shifts suggested that moving to a new out-of-town site might be the best option for growth. The congregation elected to stay and accept the challenge of completing the original vision and reaffirm their vital role in the town center of Batavia. The massing, details, and original architectural vision have been incorporated in this final piece of the church complex. For this church and community this final building addition is, in fact, a 'DEVINE DETAIL' that reaffirms the congregations' commitment to their faith and the City of Batavia. |
